The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Displeasure Over Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
