Cars in German Town Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Officers stated they were notified by a man who discovered a car in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a release.

Police say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police say initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.

A senior political figure stated the attack made him without words and had to be solved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
